With this article, I want to share with you the changes I have made to my personal website. It is not just a few graphic changes, but a complete overhaul of my personal identity and brand. I decided to make the site cleaner and more minimalist, using only two main colours: black and white. In addition, I created a new logo with completely new graphics.
In particular, I wanted to add a new element to the logo: a stylised snake, inspired by the Inca art of my home country, Peru. This symbol represents my roots, my history and my culture.
The snake (Amaru in Quechua) in Inca culture symbolises the world below or the world of the dead (the Ukhu Pacha). When people leave the earthly world, they join this other dimension represented by the snake. It is the connection between the spiritual and physical worlds.
The serpent also represents multiple meanings in the symbolism of different cultures: it is considered a symbol of regeneration, immortality and infinity. The symbols of Ouroboros and Kundalini are good examples of this.
I chose to use the snake as the symbol of my personal brand to challenge the prejudices that western society, under the influence of the Christian religion, has attributed to this animal over the centuries. With this symbol, I want to convey my inner strength and determination to achieve my goals.
Lastly, my personal website will not only be limited to my passion for cinema but will also tell about me, my thoughts, emotions and memories. This is my personal brand for 2023 and I am very satisfied with the work I have done so far. I hope to create a lot of interesting content in the future.
